(PSYCHEDELICS)
SEROTONERGIC CLASSICAL HALLUCINOGENS
WHAT DO PSYCHEDELICS TO DO MY BRAIN?
Psychedelics show their effects mainly through the 5-HT (serotonin) system. They are 5-HT2A receptor agonists, which activate serotonergic and dopaminergic activity in the brain (specifically in the dorsal raphe nucleus and VTA). They are implicated in mood and anxiety regulation. Psychedelics also have effects on the dopaminergic system. These drugs significantly alter people's perception of reality and cause several mind-altering effects.
